Everyone is struggling from time to time, and it can be really difficult to know how to help. In addition to sending messages of love and support, gifting is one of our love languages, so being able to offer something substantial and useful is a really great way to feel like we are helping. Here are five gifts that show somebody who is struggling that you truly care.

A food hamper

We are firm believers that the way to somebody’s heart is through their stomach, which is why food is one of our favourite gifts. From freshly baked brownies that arrive through your letterbox, to showing up at your friend’s house and cooking them a three-course meal, there are a number of ways that food can be used to put a smile on somebody’s face.

And, of course, there are also plenty of practical reasons why giving someone food may be a great idea. For example, a nice dinner can be a great way to bring people together, and a lot of people find comfort in knowing that they have somebody else to turn to in times of need. In addition to all of the above, there’s no better way to show somebody that you care about them than by feeding them.

An allergy testing kit

While there might be an obvious reason that somebody is struggling, sometimes it isn’t clear, and it can be really difficult not being able to get to the bottom of it. Believe it or not, allergies can sometimes be the culprit, so a simple allergy test can be a fantastic gift if it becomes their first step to feeling better. Make your loved one’s life easier, and grab an at home allergy test so that they can rule out specific problems and get closer to a resolution.

Something to help their mental health

If the person you’re looking to buy a thoughtful gift for is into sports, then there’s nothing better than getting them something they’re really going to use. Like special goggles for swimming or fancy Yonex Badminton Rackets that they’ll use and think of you. Getting a gift to help encourage them to be physical can really help improve their mental health especially if they’re going through a down patch and not feeling as active as usual.

A delivery service

Sometimes one of the best gifts you can give somebody is your time. If somebody that you know is struggling in any way, sometimes it can be helpful for them to know that you are available to help with the small things, like picking up a prescription or helping to take a family member to an appointment. An even bigger way to show that you care is to come in and help declutter, as this can make a huge impact on somebody’s mental health.

A long-distance lamp

If you have to be away from somebody that you care about – whether it is your friend, your partner, or a member of your family – it can be painful, and they can be likely to get lonely. To counteract loneliness, there is a range of long-distance touch lamps, which are an excellent way to let somebody know that you are thinking of them. The way the lamps work is that they are synced up so that when one person touches their lamp, the colours will change on both lamps so that your loved one’s presence is felt in your home.
