Christmas is officially upon us and we love Christmas, and I won’t hear anybody saying otherwise! It’s time for all of those cheesy songs that make us groan, and the same corny films we watch year after year – and I couldn’t be happier about it. In a world full of people having a moan about Christmas, I think it’s really important to look for the joy in the situation and talk about all of the things that make me happy. That’s why, in the name of the festive spirit, I have decided to share my top five reasons that I love Christmas.

The twinkling lights fill me with joy

There is genuinely something so calming about the warm glow of a festive light, and it makes my heart feel filled to the brim when I sit in a room with that soft lighting going on and just bask in the relaxation of it all. And if you’re not a subtle lighting kind of person, I love the other end of the spectrum too, with multi-coloured lighting being a surefire way to bring joy to my heart.

Packaging up everybody’s gifts

Gifting is totally my love language, which is why I get so excited about Christmas because I get to give everybody their little gifts. I spend a lot of time picking the perfect pressies, choosing bespoke packaging, and making sure that the recipient gets exactly what they deserve to have a perfect Christmas – it’s just so much fun!

The food the best

Christmas dinner is not just a roast dinner in my house – we have all the trimmings, including pigs in blankets, every sauce known to man, and enough food that we’re eating it for a week straight. I get very excited by Christmas food because it’s so rich and delicious, and I love that we just get to sit together and really appreciate a tasty meal and our togetherness. The world is a busy place, and there’s nothing like Christmas food to bring you all together and have you take a breath.

Everybody you know seems to pause

Life can get very busy, so it’s nice when the majority of people get to share a collective day off. Even if you can’t be around each other in person, it’s good to know we are all happy and relaxed at the same time, and we can always enjoy things like video calls and virtual games to keep each other company

It only comes once a year

While many might wish it could be Christmas every day, I’m happy that it’s once a year. It’s not because I don’t like it (obviously!), but the fact that I get to really dedicate so much time and energy into the joy of it all, I’d be exhausted if it was more than once a year. Having this time every year to have the build-up, and then the special day itself, keeps the Christmas spirit alive in my heart, and I am so thankful for it.
